Matt Sinatro- catching & hitting

Matt Sinatro is a former Major League Catcher. He signed with the Atlanta Braves in 1978. He also played with the Detroit Tigers, Oakland A’s, and the Seattle Mariners. He then moved to coaching in the Major Leagues.

Matt is currently a coach for the Houston Astros big league club.  He spent last year as a special assistant in charge of charting and scouting the hitters of the opposing teams and setting up the Pitchers, catchers, and defensive strategies.

During Matt’s  fourth season on the Cubs coaching staff, He became a special assistant to Lou Piniella.  Matt served as the team’s first base coach from 2007-09 … 2010 marked his 15th season as a big league coach …Matt also is a Major League catching instructor … Prior to Chicago, he recorded 11 seasons as a bullpen coach with Seattle (1995-02) and Tampa Bay (2003-05), all with Lou Piniella…During his coaching career, he has gone to the postseason six times, including the 2007-08 seasons with the Cubs.  He also reached the postseason with Seattle following the 1995, 1997, 2000 and 2001 campaigns…Matt is a 1978 graduate of Conard High School in West Hartford, Conn., where he played football, basketball and baseball.

Matt resides in Sammamish in the off-season with wife Liz and his 3 sons.  Jimmy Sinatro, who worked at SBA  the past couple of years, received a full ride scholarship to play catcher at Gonzaga University starting this year.
